Isuzu D-Max gets updated for Thailand

Automaker Isuzu has given its D-Max some nip-and-tuck for the Thai market.

The 2024 model year truck sports a redesigned radiator grille with a new 3D pattern, modified LED lighting all around and a different front bumper. The tailgate spoiler has been replaced with a larger version, and the brake lights ended up with new light signatures.

Inside, the infotainment system takes advantage of a better UI and now ships only with a nine-inch display (the smaller display sizes are no longer available). The dashboard has finally switched from analog to digital, too, although at 7 inches of diagonal size it is not exactly big. Extra USB ports and the remote engine start function round off the list of new additions.

The engines stay the same. You can go for a 1.9-liter turbo diesel rated at 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque or pay a premium for its bigger 3.0-liter counterpart with 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission can be six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, and the drive can be on the rear axle or both.

The model year 2024 brings along advanced torque vectoring and a new drive mode for heavy off-roading. The driving aids stay the same, but one of the video cameras used in the system has been upgraded.

Sales in Thailand are set to start tomorrow, October 12. Later on, the new D-Max will reach other markets as well. It will also receive an all-electric version in the future, which will debut in Europe and may end up being a Europe-only release; Isuzu says it hasn’t decided on the sales geography yet.
