Have a look at the world’s only Jaguar by Gucci

This Jaguar XJ-S Shooting Brake coachbuilt by Paolo Gucci back in 1987 and restored to its full glory in 2015 is now heading to the auction block in Goodwood with the expected selling price between £70,000 and £100,000 ($86,000 - $123,000 USD).

The original Jaguar XJ-S came in coupe and convertible flavors (see video). A tuner company named Lynx converted one of the coupes into what it called a ‘sports estate’, a car with an elongated roof and a spacious 1,100-liter trunk. It had three doors including the tailgate and offered plenty of second-row space thanks to the rear bench moved farther back.

The model caught the attention of Paolo Gucci, who retired from Gucci Fashion House after two decades working as Design Director there. He decided to release the car in a collaboration effort between himself, Lynx and Gucci and got down to work.

His original plans involved making 20 Gucci Eventer shooting brakes priced from £100,000 before any options. The first car his team made had an unusual exterior finish and a cabin draped in leather with accents of ash and semi-precious stones. He even went as far as to design an accessory lineup for the model. He brought the car to the 1990 Geneva show, but Gucci executives did not appreciate him using the fashion house’s name on the project and issued a cease-and-desist.

The seller claims the car – which ended up being the only one made, regrettably – was restored by its original makers seven years ago.
