Japan welcomes Nissan Murano back, Kuhl gives it a styling makeover

Thanks to a recent trade deal between the United States and Japan, Japanese automakers have received an incentive to import cars made in the U.S. back to their domestic market without too many unnecessary tests or certification procedures. As a result, Nissan announced bringing its U.S.-made Murano SUV back to Japan. It won’t arrive until 2027, but the local tuning company Kuhl Racing has already devised a styling kit for it.

The 3D renderings envision the car with wheel arch extensions, a front splitter, assorted bumper trims and side skirts. A look from behind reveals a rather modest-sized rear wing and a matching diffuser. Judging by the promised ride height reduction of 60-70 mm (2.3–2.7 inches), air suspension is also on the list.

The arches are occupied by aftermarket forged wheels coming in 21- and 22-inch sizes to choose between. Suggested designs include VRF01 (monoblock, seven-spoke) and KCV04 (two-piece, ten-spoke) from Verz Wheels, but other options exist as well.

The U.S.-spec Nissan Murano (see video) comes equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 244 PS (241 hp / 179 kW) and 352 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission drives all four wheels.

Prices remain to be announced, but Kuhl Racing has a similar tuning package listed for the Toyota Crown Estate. It lists the body kit for the equivalent of U.S. $4,900, the suspension parts for $5,300 and the brakes for $5,200. As for the Murano itself, it is expected to start around $50,000 in Japan when sales begin in early 2027.
