Kia Stinger to retire without successor in early 2023

Mere two and a half years after the international launch, the Kia Stinger looks poised to disappear from the market entirely due to exceedingly poor sales. The latest media reports from South Korea suggest that production will be axed next April.

In January–September 2022, the company has managed to sell just 1,499 units. Not even a series of mid-life updates that overhauled the exterior, interior and drivetrain of the Stinger could save the situation.

It also looks like, once discontinued, the gas-powered sports car will leave a vacant place in the lineup. A couple of years ago, Kia reasoned that the all-electric EV6 GT was the proper ideological successor for the Stinger. The only hope of those in the market for a performance car from Kia is a mysterious battery sedan the company has in the plans until 2025. There are no details about it at this moment.
