Modellista tries to un-bland the latest Lexus ES

The 2026 Lexus ES features a sharper and more laconic design than its curvy predecessors, but with how conservative the premium saloon buyer audience is, it’s bound to lose some fans looking like that. Toyota’s closely affiliated tuner Modellista hurries in with a styling kit to fix things, but will it be enough?

Showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon several days ago, the kit attempts to spice up the otherwise mellow exterior of the 2026 Lexus ES. It does so with a body-matched front splitter, side skirts with built-in RBG LED backlight, matte-black side mirror covers and a body-matched rear diffuser.

If you asked us, we’d say it looks good, but lacks flair – or even flavor. The car looks about as restrained and bland as it was before. Then again, odds are good that Toyota will release an F Sport package for it sooner or later, and that one just might land closer to our expectations.

Modellista hasn’t revealed any pricing details yet, since the kit is still a work in progress. It’s also unknown whether it will be made available outside of Japan.
