Ever fancied turning your Lexus GX into a Land Cruiser Prado impersonator?

This 12-year-old Lexus GX 460 has been converted by its owner into a lookalike of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. It is currently on sale in the United States for just $15,459, although arguably not because it looks cheaper than the original.

The real reason, as far as we can imagine, is that the car has over 300,000 kilometers (186,000 miles) on the counter. As for the conversion itself, it isn’t that bad with Prado bumpers, headlights, front grille, hood, badges (including the Land Cruiser Prado lettering on the tailgate) and 19-inch wheels.

In addition to the above, the owner replaced some interior elements with those of the 2021 Lexus GX 460. Rounding off the cabin styling is Toyota badging.

Powering the car is its stock 4.6-liter V8 rated at 305 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) and 446 Nm (330 lb-ft) of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission drives all four wheels through a limited-slip inter-axle differential. The car was optioned with adaptive suspension, too.

Why bother downgrading a Lexus to a Toyota, though? One possible guess is that the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is not officially available in the United States, making it a rare sight on the streets. Perhaps that was reason enough for the owner. What do you think?
