Indian automotive giant Mahindra unveiled a whole range of EVs a year ago that it was considering for production, and now, another candidate joins the list. Despite its name – Thar.e – it has no relation to the ICE-powered SUV Thar or the Jeep Wrangler that model is based on.
Instead, it seems to be an all-new electric vehicle based on a platform known as INGLO. The eye-like headlights and the taillights are the only things that remotely resemble the classic Thar. The suspension is based on robust dual wishbones, and the ground clearance can be raised to 300 mm (12 inches).
Dual electric motors propel the Thar.e with 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW) at the rear axle and 108 PS (107 hp / 79 kW) at the front axle. The respective torques are 380 and 135 Nm (280 and 100 pound-feet).
Mahindra has not revealed when the concept car may reach the mass market.
