Marvel at this finely tuned 930-PS Mitsubishi Lancer EVO

The name of Mitsubishi may no longer evoke the emotions it did some years ago, but we still fondly remember the era when it was associated with some of the best JDM sports cars around. A tuner from the United States took a Lancer Evo IX wagon a few years ago and built an impressive JDM supercar out of it.

The 2005MY people hauler received a 2.2-liter Manley four-pot under the hood that latched onto a five-speed manual transmission. All kinds of modifications led to the power rising to a colossal 930 PS (917 hp / 684 kW). To keep it in check, the tuner had to resort to titanium turbocharger pipes, a new air intake system, a high-end intercooler and a reinforced tubular subframe.

Smaller modifications made it into the cabin as well. Things stay retro for the most part, but the dashboard is digital and the radio supports both modern smartphone systems. The center console houses a button panel used to access AC and power seat settings, cruise control and other such modern niceties. The seats are Recaro Sportster buckets with carbon-fiber backs.

The whole project took around three years to complete.
