Nissan boastfully proclaims Armada better than Land Cruiser

Nissan has come to the Japan Mobility Show with a plethora of concepts and studies, but the media reps have asked the most questions about the next-gen Armada SUV, known on some markets as the Patrol.

By the standards of the SUV market, the full-size Armada/Patrol is basically a fossil at this point, having been released in 2010 and barely updated since. A new generation is coming soon, though. Speaking with CarExpert, one of Nissan Senior VPs said the model would compete against more upmarket vehicles from other companies. He also dropped the opinion that the new Armada would be “much better” than the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.

Aside from that, he confirmed the rumors that Toyota was retiring its V8 engine for good and adopting a more efficient twin-turbo V6 instead, which is expected to deliver even more power and torque. He did not comment on the rumors that the new V6 would produce 424 PS (418 hp / 312 kW) and link to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
