Meet the Opel Corsa GSE, German automaker’s hottest EV hatch

Opel claims that the new Opel Corsa GSE (Grand Sport Electric) is the sportiest car on the lineup, sprinting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds and hitting 180 km/h (112 mph) if you keep the pedal down.

Compared to the regular Corsa five-door hatchback, the newcomer features a particularly sporty front end, a pronounced rear spoiler and a set of new 18-inch wheels. The interior is occupied by bucket seats wrapped in Alcantara and contrasting yellow safety belts. The infotainment system seems to be the same, but the company claims it can now display real-time telemetry data.

Power for the wheels comes from a single e-motor rated at 281 PS (277 hp / 207 kW) and 345 Nm (254 lb-ft) of torque. A 54-kWh battery pack provides the electricity, but the range remains to be disclosed. Other than that, Opel promises numerous suspension and steering tweaks, as well as upgraded brakes from Alcon for a sportier feel behind the wheel.

The Corsa GSE will celebrate its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October this year.
