Porsche Design and Honor unveil a smartphone

The Porsche Design accessory lineup has expanded to incorporate a new smartphone. It is based on the Honor Magic V2, a folding phone already sold in China and believed to be one of the world’s thinnest devices of its kind. Dubbed the Magic V2 RSR, the exclusive edition is available for 15,999 Yuan (2,225 USD). It is expected to become available in other countries soon.

As one would expect from a Porsche phone, it has a number of styling traits reminiscent of the German automaker’s icons. Among other things, it is finished in its trademark color known as Agate Grey and has a line running across the backplate that reminds of the engine lid of the Porsche 911. The camera unit is encased in a trapezoid trim piece machined from dark titanium.

Spec-wise, the smartphone is a flagship model packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of local storage. It has a pair of 50-megapixel cameras, a 20MP telephoto lens and two high-definition displays sized 7.92 and 6.43 inches across, covered by a scratch-resistant nanocrystal coating.

The smartphone is 9.9 mm thick when folded and 4.7 mm thick when open.
