Theon Design dials in the perfect Porsche 911 (964)

The British Porsche restoration specialist Theon Design has released its take on the 964-generation Porsche 911, encasing it in a carbon/Kevlar body with a superior non-turbo flat-six for the engine. The conversion is available starting from £420,000 (U.S. $560,000), and you are supposed to source your own car on top of that.

Working with the classic from the 1990s, Theon aimed at making it as light as possible while keeping the engine naturally aspirated. After replacing numerous components with modern composite counterparts, the company managed to bring the curb weight down to an impressive 1,150 kilos (2,535 pounds).

Surprisingly enough, the interior was afforded some luxury despite all the weight savings. A peek inside reveals Recaro bucket seats wrapped in leather, lots of leather trim throughout the rest of the cabin, and numerous accents of aluminum and carbon fiber. It helps that the rear bench seat is removed, but don’t expect this 964 to be a track day machine: Theon says the suspension is tuned for comfortable daily driving on public roads.

Underpinning the build is a 4.0-liter flat-plane six-cylinder engine that revs up to 8,000 RPM and hits the rear end with up to 420 PS (414 hp / 309 kW). As one would expect, the transmission is six-speed manual.

According to Theon, a vehicle like this takes 18 months to create, so you’ll be wise to order early – that is, if you have half a million to spare to begin with.
