Porsche Macan EV introduced with full specs and details

Porsche has unveiled the second generation of its Macan crossover, which will go on sale in the second half of the year with two fully electric powertrains to choose between.

This is the German sports carmaker’s second EV on record and its first SUV running on batteries. It is based on the new PPE platform and is 4,784 mm (186.9 inches) long, 1,938 mm (75.7 in) wide and 1,622 mm (63.4 in) tall with 2,893 mm (113 in) between the axles. The default trunk size of 540 liters (19 cubic feet) can be expanded to 1,348 liters (47.6 cu. ft.), and there is an 84-liter (3-cu.ft.) frunk as well.

In its most basic version, the Macan EV has a 12.6-inch curved dash display and a 10.9-inch head unit. A 10.9-inch front passenger’s display is available at a premium. There is also an 87-inch HUD that positions its projection 10 meters (32.8 feet) ahead of the car.

The entry-level Macan 4 spec uses two motors jointly rated at 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.2 seconds and tops out at 220 km/h (136 mph).

The range-topping Macan Turbo commands 639 PS (630 hp / 470 kW) and 1,130 Nm (833 lb-ft), needs 3.3 seconds for the sprint and reaches 260 km/h (161 mph).

Both models draw power from a 100-kWh lithium-ion battery built into the floor panels. The Macan 4 covers between 516 and 784 km (320–487 miles) per charge depending on your preferred deriving mode. The Macan Turbo gets 518–765 km (322–475 miles) from the same pack. The average mileage is manufacturer-rated at 613 km (381 mi) for the 4 and 591 km (367 mi) for the Turbo.

As long as you plug the Macan EV into a powerful 270kW charging station, you will recharge the battery from 10 to 80 percent full in 21 minutes. Regenerative braking has also been made efficient thanks to 240kW charging current.
