Roewe D7 debuts in two flavors

SAIC Group automobile brand Roewe has premiered an all-new sedan in China, AutoHome reports. Called the D7, it is coming to the market in two main versions with different styling and powertrain type.

The newcomer runs on a proprietary vehicle architecture called Nebula. It is sized 4,890 x 1,872 x 1,510 mm (191 x 73.1 x 59 inches) with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm (109.8 inches).

In all likelihood, the Roewe D7 DHT will be the more affordable of the two versions. It has its own headlight design, bumper with air intakes, and traditional door handles. The powertrain is hybrid and combines a 109-PS electric motor with a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated, 112-PS gas engine.

The combined output of this specification is 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW), which goes to the front wheels. You can drive up to 125 km (77 miles) on electricity alone, but top up the tank and you will be able to go as far as 1,400 km (870 miles) with an average petrol consumption of 4.3 liters per 100 km (that’s nearly 55 MPG).

In turn, the Roewe D7 EV is a rear-wheel-drive electric vehicle. It has a solid slab at the front end instead of a grille, two-tier headlights and pull-out door handles. There are two powertrains to choose from: one makes 197 PS (194 hp / 145 kW) and has 510 km (317 miles) of range, while the other one has 211 PS (208 hp / 155 kW) and has 610 km (379 miles). Roewe promises ‘innovative’ batteries, but the details remain to be revealed.

Both D7 saloons ride on per-wheel suspension. The interior layout is identical: there is a bulky transmission tunnel in the middle, a laconic HVAC control panel and a pair of 12.3-inch displays.
