Rod Stewart’s former Ferrari F50 proves a desired collector’s item

One out of 349 Ferrari F50 supercars ever produced (see video) is currently being auctioned off in the UK with the bidding at £2.45 million (over $3 million) and the auction going on until November 12. The car is 27 years old and used to belong to Rod Stewart, British rock legend.

Maranello Concessionaires imported the car into the UK, where it was first commissioned for road use in June 1997. It then traveled from London to Dubai in 2002, but came back to the UK in 2007. The ownership title lists seven owners and just 17,700 km (11,000 miles) of use in total.

At a certain moment of its life, this particular F50 was resprayed in a darker shade of grey and had its seats re-trimmed. Later on, Zanasi Group reverted it to its original look with a red exterior and black interior, plus red accents on the seats. As for the tech, the 4.7-liter V12 sending 519 PS (512 hp / 382 kW) to a six-speed manual transmission has stayed stock throughout all these years. The same goes for the 18-inch wheels.

Thanks to having been reverted to factory state, the car was awarded the Ferrari Classiche certificate of authenticity and can now warrant a high selling price. It comes bundled with all the necessary documents in the UK and a set of OEM accessories. The ‘F5 OAB’ number plate seen here is not included, though.

The maintenance record suggests that the F50 had received regular maintenance prior to the auction, with the last visit to the care center in August this year. It is in good driving condition.
