Lamborghini Temerario ditches motors for GT3 compliance

Lamborghini has unveiled a special Temerario supercar being built for GT3 racing. The development will continue next year, and the finished car is expected to make an appearance at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 2026.

In its street-legal guise, the Temerario is a hybrid vehicle featuring three electric motors and a combined 920 PS (907 hp / 677 kW). In contrast, its endurance racing variant is not electrified and instead relies on an improved stock 4.0-liter V8.

The engine benefits from an optimized turbocharger setup and is dialed down from its nominal 800 to just 550 PS (from 789 to 542 hp; from 588 to 405 kW, respectively). It also uses a six-speed race transmission instead of the standard car’s eight-speed DCT.

Like the normal Temerario, the racecar features an aluminum space-frame. It is significantly lighter and simpler built than its road-going counterpart. Both the front and the rear subframe are designed as quick-release to allow quick repairs. The additional powertrain mounts installed to support the hybrid system were removed. An FIA-compliant roll cage was added in the middle section.

The carbon-fiber bodywork was co-designed by the automaker’s own Squadra Corse and Centro Stile divisions. It is all-new and features largely detachable panels – once again, to keep things as easy to repair as possible. The undercarriage plate consists of four individual parts, and even the lighting units are quick-release for convenience.

Further highlights of the build include KW suspension, hydraulic rack steering, a Capristo exhaust system and a unique fuel tank designed to report the remaining fuel level with high precision. Even the steering wheel is new, designed based on the feedback from both Lamborghini’s in-house racing drivers and private teams.
