Even with the EV market in a slump, Volkswagen reckons its Golf and T-Roc models could use fully electric editions.
The company claims that both will retain their original DNA while switching to a new and much more promising electric architecture called SSP. It should help the automaker get rid of most issues plaguing its current MQB platform. Both models are expected to go into production at the VW HQ in Wolfsburg, Germany.
Don’t expect either of them too soon, though. The Golf EV is slated for debut sometime in 2028, and the T-Roc will take even longer than that. Volkswagen argues that it needs more time to work on the mistakes it made designing the ID lineup, and to us, that sounds like a very respectable reason to take your time.
