Xpeng G6 gains a new base spec, costs less than ever

Xpeng has added a new entry-level version to its G6 electric SUV lineup. Like all other G6 modifications, it is currently eligible for a 20,000-Yuan discount, cnevpost.com reports. It means you can get it from a low 180,000 Yuan.

The G6 580 Pro, which used to be the standard trim, still starts from 210,000 Yuan. The new version is called the G6 580 “Plus”. It lacks an adjustable lumbar support on the driver’s seat and has other obvious cut corners, such as 8 speakers in the audio system instead of 18.

Along with the Plus trim, the company revealed a new exterior finish option – deep gloss black. Judging by the number ‘580’ still present in the model name, it should still cover up to 580 kilometers (360 miles) on a charge using the standard 66-kWh battery pack.

The new 580 Plus has a single electric motor installed at the rear axle to drive it with 296 PS (292 hp / 218 kW). It needs 6.6 seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and can attain 202 km/h (125 mph).

The top trim takes advantage of two e-motors sending 487 PS (480 hp / 358 kW) to the wheels. It concludes its sprint in 3.9 seconds and has 700 km (435 miles) of China-rated driving range.

Xpeng announced a 10,000-Yuan discount on all G6 versions in late 2023. In February, the company increased the discount to the current 20,000 Yuan and called it a “time-limited offer”. It has remained valid through March and April, though.
