Skoda reveals the Epiq, an all-electric compact SUV set for 2025 launch

The Skoda Epiq will start from roughly €25,000 (U.S. $27,200) when it ships next year, making it the Czech marque’s cheapest electric vehicle ever made.

For the time being, the car is still considered a concept. It is 4.1 meters (160 inches) long and seats five people. The trunk has 490 liters (17.3 cubic feet) of space and the battery is rated at roughly 400 km (250 miles) per charge. The remaining parameters have yet to be announced, but we suspect they will be in line with those of the Volkswagen ID.2all hatchback running on the MEB Entry front-wheel-drive platform.

On the outside, the car speaks Skoda’s Modern Solid design language. It has a Tech-Deck Face front fascia with a built-in radar and camera. Matrix LED headlights, T-shaped daytime running lights, pronounced bumpers with vertical slats, low-drag wheels, roof rails and a spoiler round off the exterior.

The cabin looks rather laconic and makes active use of durable, practical trimming materials, some of them recycled. The steering wheel has two spokes, the digital dashboard is fairly compact, and the multimedia touchscreen is large with physical buttons underneath. A wireless charger pad is provided along with multiple boxes for miscellaneous items, including a secret compartment under the trunk floor.

VW Group will handle the production at its factory in Spain where it also plans to produce a variety of other EVs.
