Tank 700 gets a modest refresh in China

The rumors that Tank was preparing a near-1000-horsepower version of its 700 SUV seem to have been fake, after all. The model has debuted with “only” 524 PS (517 hp / 385 kW) and can be preordered starting from 437,800 Yuan ($63,573).

The most basic Hi4-Z spec makes do with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 252 PS (249 hp / 185 kW). It comes bundled with a 59-kWh battery and can do up to 190 km (118 miles) in all-electric mode.

The superior Hi4-T spec packs a 3.0-liter V6 and the aforementioned 524 metric horsepower, as well as up to 90 km (55 miles) of all-electric range. Both range quotations are per the WLTC.

On the exterior side of things, the new Tank 700 is 5,105 mm (199.4 inches) long, 2,061 mm (80.5 inches) wide and 1,985 mm (77.5 inches) tall with three meters (117.2 inches) of wheelbase. Compared to the previous design iteration, it sports a mildly different bumper and hood alongside new 21-inch wheels, as well as a fake diffuser and a small rear wing at the back.

The interior hasn’t visibly changed much except for the transmission tunnel. The selector now sits at the steering wheel, freeing space on the tunnel for more physical controls and two cup holders. There are three displays inside: a 12.3-inch digital dash, a 15.6-inch head unit and a 17.3-inch ceiling display for the back row.
