FAW-Toyota has submitted the certification data for its refreshed Corolla sedan to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and IT database. According to AutoHome.cn, the car gets a major exterior overhaul alongside a powerful new engine.
The front fascia in particular looks completely new with C-shaped headlight sections found on other modern Toyota vehicles, a reshaped front bumper with vertical side intakes, an original radiator grille and a different hood cover. The badge now resides on a special trim inserted between the hood and the grille. The profile looks unchanged, and the only major change at the rear end concerns the lower brake light trim piece, which went from chrome to black.
According to the spec sheet, the car is sized 4,710 x 1,780 x 1,435 mm (184 x 69.5 x 56 inches) with a wheelbase spanning 2,750 mm (107.4 inches). This is 80 mm (3.1 inches) longer than the pre-facelift version with 50 mm (2 inches) of extra wheelbase.
Last but not least, the 2026 Toyota Corolla for China will finally become available with a 2.0-liter engine rated at 171 PS (169 hp / 126 kW). Until now, the sedan has only shipped with 1.2- and 1.5-liter engines. A hybrid powertrain based on a 1.8-liter engine with 98 PS (97 hp / 72 kW) has also been announced, but the certification files fail to disclose the e-motor details.
The current Corolla prices range from 116,800 to 155,800 Yuan in China. It’s still unknown how soon the facelift will be introduced and how much it will cost.
