Outback-ready Land Cruiser 70 up for grabs Down Under for U.S. ~$146k

The classic Toyota Land Cruiser 70 diesel SUV is no longer in production in many countries, but it is still popular in Australia – apparently so much so that certain tuned examples get posted for ludicrous amounts.

The specific example seen here is a work of PVS Automotive. It features rugged front and rear bumpers, skid plates and undercarriage guards, and a roof rack for lengthy expeditions. To make life simpler for travelers, it comes with a roof access ladder and a full-fledged spare wheel on the tailgate.

The interior is all custom as well, wrapped in attention-grabbing blue Alcantara with orange and carbon-fiber accents. The new infotainment display is nine inches large, the front seats come from Recaro, and the steering wheel is a transplant from the local Toyota Tundra. A trunk organizer and a tailgate-mounted drop-down picnic table round off the modifications.

As any other Land Cruiser 70 on the Southern Continent, this one relies on a 2.8-liter diesel engine to send 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and up to 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox. With only 128 kilometers (80 miles) under its belt, it’s practically new – or so the listing claims.

Then there’s the asking price of just under AUD 220,000, which corresponds to USD 146,350 at the current conversion rates. You could buy a brand-new LC 70 for the equivalent of USD 53,200 in Australia, so this tuned example is nearly three times as expensive.
