Tuner’s Corvette ZR1 hits 315 km/h delivering a Christmas tree

Texas-based Hennessey Performance is no stranger to using supercars to carry decorated Christmas trees on the Christmas Eve. It’s pulled this stunt with a Shelby GT500, a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and even a Porsche 911 Turbo S over the years, but this year’s Corvette ZR1 was certainly the most impressive so far.

Armed with 1,064 PS (1,050 hp / 783 kW) and 1,032 Nm (761 lb-ft) of torque, the mid-engined coupe was retrofitted with a special lightweight roof rack for the task. A fully decorated Christmas tree with around 200 baubles on it was put on top, and the drivetrain was allowed to stay completely stock.

The unofficial goal was to try and hit 322 km/h (200 miles per hour) with the tree firmly affixed to the roof. The ‘Vette nearly got there, but stopped slightly short with a top speed of 315 km/h (195 mph). That’s still higher than any of Hennessey’s previously tested “delivery supercars” have managed since the tradition started in 2017.

It appears likely that the company is currently working on a full-blown tuning kit for the ZR1, but if so, it remains to be officially announced.
