Volkswagen has registered another production vehicle for the Chinese domestic market. Called the ID. Unyx 07, it is a RWD liftback reportedly based on an all-new platform co-designed between the German automaker and Xpeng.
The ID.Unyx SUV (see video) has been around in China since 2024. It received a facelift this April that saw its name changed to “ID. Unyx 06”, apparently because the company wanted to repurpose it for an entire lineup of electric cars.
The model 07 is much larger than the 06 with 4,853 mm of body length, 1,852 mm of width, 1,566 mm of height and 2,826 mm of wheelbase. The patent application mentions 19- and 20-inch wheel options.
For the powertrain, the new Volkswagen ID. Unyx 07 relies on a single e-motor driving its rear axle with 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW). Dual-motor/AWD variants aren’t listed yet, but knowing China, they will likely be added later. It’s also semi-official that the battery pack will come from CATL and consist of traditional LFP cells.
The Volkswagen-Anhui factory, which produces the company’s EVs for China, has simultaneously posted a handful of stylized photos of the liftback. It shares much of the exterior styling with the 06, but has a squared steering wheel and what looks like a new interior layout. We currently don’t any other photos to go by.
