TVR fans get a new kit car to toy around with

The British car manufacturer TVR used to produce so-called kit cars, i.e. cars offered as separate parts packages which the customers can assemble on their own. The last kit, called the TVR Sagaris, came out in the 2000s, followed by the company’s bankruptcy.

TVR made its return as a luxury manufacturer and is now mainly offering ready-made cars. A few days ago, however, in a nod to the past, it announced the new Sagaris GT kit for the fans to play with.

In keeping with the old tradition, the car is stripped clean of all driving aids, including the AEB, the ABS and even the airbags. The kit includes 14 parts that can be bought together or separately, but the latter option is going to cost considerably more.

To put together your very own TVR Sagaris GT, you will need to buy the bodywork and chassis, then all steering, brake and suspension components, electrical parts, lighting, windows, wheels, tires and – finally – the interior.

Only 10 such kit cars will be produced in 2019, priced at U.S. $58,000 and above.
