The 2022 Alpina B8 Gran Coupe is a high-performance sedan with plenty of desirable features, and the latest video by AutoTopNL has it tearing air racing down a speed-unrestricted autobahn in Germany.
For starters, let us remind that the B8 utilizes a 4.4-liter BMW V8 engine twin-turbo’d to 621 PS (613 hp / 457 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. These specs enable it to launch itself from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and reach a manufacturer-rated top speed of 324 km/h (202 mph).
However, during actual testing the sedan hits 200 km/h (124 mph) nearly instantaneously and continues accelerating with apparent effortlessness. Other cars in the left lane make the driver hit the brakes on several occasions, but soon the path is clear again. In the end, the car strikes 327 km/h (203.2 mph).
Compared to the regular BMW 8-Series it is based upon, the B8 has sporty trim at both ends, enlarged air intakes, an Alpina logo, oval tailpipes, side sill trimmings and an overhauled interior. It also boasts a range of performance and handling improvements aside from the engine boost mentioned above.
