Audi Q9 spotted testing in Sweden

Audi’s largest SUV to date, purportedly called the Q9, is currently running its pre-production tests in Sweden. Here’s what can be seen beneath the disguise.

First of all, it looks like the car has a normal unitized body of a traditional SUV, despite the earlier rumors that it could be a coupe-like crossover. Second, the round headlamps are an obvious decoy, guaranteed not to make it into production.

Size-wise, the alleged Q9 seems slightly over 5.2 meters (17 feet) long. The Audi Q7, which you can have a look at in the video here, stretches 5,060 mm (16.6 feet) long.

Technical specs remain unannounced. It would make sense for the Q9 to come driven by a twin-turbo V8 rated at 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) or so. A plug-in hybrid spec is very likely, too.

However it is, the new model is expected to debut on official terms later this year. Audi registered the Q9 trademark eight years ago, so it would make sense for it to get some use at last.
