Zero-emission BMW X7 spotted testing

According to Autoblog, the new BMW iX7 featured in these spy shots has already been finalized in terms of design. The premiere remains penciled in for mid-2027, so let’s take a closer look in the meantime.

First of all, it’s surprising how little the electric X7 looks like a Neue Klasse vehicle. In fact, it doesn’t resemble one at all, instead looking like the current X7 M60i seen in the video above. It rocks an oversized dual-nostril grille, stacked headlights and revamped taillights, as well as what looks like a split tailgate. The X5 has a two-part tailgate like that, and it’s proven pretty popular among owners, but BMW still decided not to offer it with the recently introduced iX5.

What kind of powertrain the battery-powered iX7 will get is anyone’s guess, but we expect it to be good for at least 811 PS (800 hp / 596 kW) and 650 kilometers (404 miles) of range. The latter is something BMW has been trying to achieve with all of its recent EV releases, but it may be trickier to do with a vehicle weighing more than three metric tons (6,600 lbs). A host of new electronic features and tech gimmicks from the Neue Klasse lineup is another thing that’s high on our list of expectations.
