The second-gen Mazda Miata (MX-5) often sees jocular comparisons with the 2996 Dodge Viper, but the vehicle shown here is an actual Viper and not a Miata, even if disfigured beyond recognition.
The one-off ride apparently hails from Japan, where it is being positioned as an “Army Truck” – a very funny description for a track tool with nearly zero ground clearance. The “truckness” probably comes from the ultra-wide dual rims at the rear that necessitate custom fender flares and make the U.S. car 2.3 meters (7.55 feet) wide. The body wears a camo wrap, and dual exhaust tips stick from under the rear diffuser.
Frankly speaking, even after watching the video multiple times, we still don’t quite get the part where this peculiar build gets called an “army truck”. Any ideas?
