The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was the first production car to come based on an all-new, made-in-Korea global modular platform. Kia proceeded to launch its EV6 based on it mere weeks afterwards, and now, the Genesis GV60 rounds off the trio of pioneers.
Genesis has yet to reveal detailed powertrain specifications, including motor count, battery capacity, driving range etc. These details should become available in the coming months. In the meantime, however, we are offered a close look at the car as depicted on the official photos.
The admittedly rather unusual-looking crossover SUV has the same overall proportions as the Ioniq 5 and EV6, a fairly long hood and a fastback-like short rear. On the whole, it probably resembles a lifted hatchback more than a crossover SUV.
Signature Genesis traits are present, of course – look for the two-tier headlights and a bulky shield-shaped lower grille, which the manufacturer claims serves the practical purpose of keeping the battery cool. The interior is largely based on the G80 and GV80, although this is the first time the company uses video cameras instead of side mirrors (look for the displays mounted at the a-pillar bases).
