Elderly Honda Prelude fetches $79k

A 1987 Honda Prelude found a new owner in the USA who paid $79,000 for it – you could buy a couple of brand-new Civic Type R hot hatches for the same amount. The classic was in pristine condition with barely any use on it.

Specifically, the coupe had belonged to only one owner until the sale, who put 6,760 km (4,200 miles) on it over 36 years. Kept in a garage and carefully maintained, it has survived the test of time in mint condition.

The car has a bright red finish with velour seats inside, a standard radio with an EQ, and a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine driving the front wheels with 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW). The transmission is five-speed manual.

The production of the second-gen Prelude model was concluded in 1987, making this example one of the last of its kind to be made.
