Xi Jinping shows Biden his armored limo

The leader of China has brought along a pair of Hongqi N701 limos for his official visit to the United States, Carscoops reports quoting ABC News. One of them he used personally, while the other one he showed to the U.S. President, Joe Biden.

According to the media, Biden praised the car, calling it ‘a beautiful vehicle.’ In turn, Xi Jinping highlighted that ‘Hongqi’ stood for ‘The Red Banner’ and invited Biden to have a closer look at it.

Hongqi, a part of FAW Group, is building small quantities of such vehicles for the top-ranking government officials. Their specifications are kept secret. Rumor has it Xi Jinping’s car is roughly 5.5 meters (18 feet) long and powered by a six-liter V12 rated at 400 horsepower (300 kilowatts).

The limousine also features bulletproof glass and run-flat tires, as well as full-body armor. It still manages to look rather understated, especially compared to some Hongqi models available on the mass market of China.
