Volkswagen’s “Jetta” sub-brand for China has just unveiled its fourth production car. Advertised as a “new” flagship, it is little more than a rebadged version of the VW Sagitar model already available in the country, ITHome.cn reports. The prices are pending.
The Jetta VA7 rides on the same chassis and has the same body and interior layout as the Sagitar. It does have its own bumpers and the marque’s distinct radiator grille, but that’s about it. The spec sheet says it is sized 4,773 x 1,789 x 1,469 mm large with 2,731 of wheelbase and 553 liters of trunk space.
Trim options include wheels up to 18 inches in diameter, a multimedia system with a display up to 12.9 inches large, an HVAC and a panoramic roof.
For the engine, VA7 buyers will have to make do with an outdated 1.4-liter turbo engine rated at 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). The same engine used to be available with the Sagitar, but has since been phased out. Thanks to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Jetta reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.2 seconds and can eventually reach 200 km/h (124 mph).
