A 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster with a unique exterior paint and ownership history has been sold earlier this week for a staggering $1.1 million. The supercar had originally belonged to businessman Donald John Trump, who later proceeded to become the 45th president of the United States.
Trump made a special arrangement with Lamborghini to finish the roadster in Blu Le Mans, a shade that wasn’t normally available for that car at the time. The company also affixed a plaque to it reading “Donald Trump Diablo 1997”.
Other than that, it is a standard-issue roadster equipped with a stock 5.7-liter V12 sending 500 PS (492 hp / 368 kW) to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. Trump sold the car in 2002, and it has changed multiple owners since.
The regular auction price of a Lamborghini Diablo VT currently hovers around U.S. $300,000–400,000. A single outliner also made in year 1997 once fetched $520,000, but that one was barely used with 2,300 km (1,430 miles) on the counter.
