Lanzante’s latest supercar pays homage to a McLaren F1 triumph of 1995

The tuner’s latest creation is dedicated to the legendary McLaren F1 GTR racecar with the starting grid number 59 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three decades ago.

Dubbed the Lanzante 95–59, it will enjoy a limited production run and will be built fully to order. Like its source of inspiration, every replica will be a three-seater with the driver’s seat in the middle and the passengers’ seats in the back.

Responsible for the design is none other than ex-McLaren designer Paul Howse. It should be unsurprising, then, that the 95–59 looks a lot like the 720S and the 750S in places. It features a custom carbon-fiber monocoque cabin, but it is still based on a McLaren design. The wheelbase is also exactly the same at 2,670 mm (104.3 inches).

Power for the exotic supercar comes from a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 also sourced from McLaren and dialed up to 862 PS (850 hp / 634 kW). The torque peaks at 880 Nm (649 lb-ft). A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission conveys the momentum to the rear wheels. Electric motors aren’t on the menu this time around.

An optional package called the LM30 adds forged aluminum wheels, lightweight intake manifolds, titanium exhaust pipes and body mounts, and a gold-coated thermal screen for the engine. Among other things, opting for this package makes the car roughly 20 kilograms (44 pounds) lighter. With a power-to-weight ratio of 700 horsepower per metric ton, the 95–59 looks better equipped than even the McLaren P1.

Only 59 examples will be built and offered upwards from £1,000,000. While that may seem a bit extreme, genuine McLaren supercars are even costlier. For example, even high-mileage P1 examples tend to start well above a million GBP.
