Nio ES8 presents interior for the first time

The new ES8, marketed by Nio as a third generation of the full-size crossover SUV, is almost ready for its domestic debut. The reveal will take place in China on August 21. In the meantime, sohu.com has posted some official photos of the vehicle that carnewschina.com believes to be the country’s largest and most spacious all-electric SUV on the market right now.

Apparently, the new ES8 has a six-seat interior. At any rate, no other configurations have been revealed yet. The power adjustments for the seats now reside on the door panels, and the audio system layout has changed completely. The company claims it should improve the sound quality.

A slim digital console spans the entire width of the front panel, divided into two by a floating infotainment display in the middle. The transmission tunnel houses a wireless charger and cup holders with lids. Bordeaux Red trim accents can be found throughout, including on the safety harnesses.

The whole vehicle is 5,280 mm (206.25 inches) long, 2,010 mm (78.5 in) wide and 1,800 mm (70.3 in) tall with 3,130 mm (122.3 in) between the axles. That’s 181 mm (7 inches) longer than the first Nio generation and roughly 25–50 mm (1–2 inches) larger in all other dimensions.

Power for the bulky SUV comes from a dual-motor electric powertrain. The front axle motor delivers 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW), while the rear axle takes advantage of an all-new motor delivering 462 PS (456 hp / 340 kW), a sizable improvement over the current generation’s 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW).

This means that the nominal output of the system now amounts to 707 PS (697 hp / 520 kW). A 102-kh lithium-ion battery pack delivers up to 635 km (395 miles) of CLTC-rated range.

The ES8 was Nio’s first production vehicle when the brand was announced eight years ago. It went into a new generation in 2022 and is now ripe for another one. Like the ET9 before it, the new ES8 will be riding on the automaker’s NT3.0 platform.

Browse to the end of the above here for some exterior photos. Compared to the current version, the new SUV sports a distinct front fascia, reworked bumpers and a new, larger “hood” at the front that conceals a small trunk.
