Ora 5 bows in China

Ora, a Chinese automaker from the GWM Co. Ltd. group, has introduced a new crossover SUV named simply the 5. It is fully electric and looks very similar to the Ora 03 hatchback, but benefits from extra size, equipment and power compared to it.

Specifically, the Ora 5 is sized 4,471 x 1,833 x 1,641 mm (174.7 x 71.6 x 64.1 inches) large with 2,720 mm (106.2 inches) between the axles. This makes it 236 mm (9.2 in) longer than the Ora 03, but only marginally wider and taller. The wheelbase is 70 mm (2.7 in) longer, and the standard wheels are 18 inches large.

These official renderings and photos are all we have from Ora at the moment. The technical specifications of the SUV were uploaded to an online database a while ago, though, so they are no longer secret, either. On the outside, the Ora 5 sports all-new bumpers, a tailgate with large “GWM” lettering on it and a LED stripe running across the lower rear window. It also features a LiDAR above the windshield, something that its hatchback cousin lacks.

A small digital dashboard in the cabin is accompanied by a large infotainment system screen. The system runs on the third generation of the automaker’s Coffee OS and supports DeepSeek AI. 64-color ambient lighting and a panoramic roof 1.65 square meters large are listed under options.

The only powertrain patented so far is represented by a single 204-PS (201-hp / 150-kW) electric motor. The certification sheet doesn’t mention the drive type, but the Ora 03 has an identical motor at the front axle, so we expect the same to be the case here.

For the battery, CarNewsChina believes the SUV will be getting the same 63.87-kWh and 83.49-kWh packs as the Ora Lightning Cat. The sedan gets 555 and 705 km (345 and 438 miles) from these two packs, respectively, and the SUV can be expected to get slightly less due to its higher curb weight.
