The all-electric Porsche Taycan has already shed most of its test mule wrappings and should debut in the coming fall. In the meantime, Porsche keeps us invested by revealing the different trims and their specs.
German luxury carmaker’s first BEV will ship in three main configurations. The basic one will come rear-driven by a single electric motor available in 326 and 381 hp (243 and 284 kW) versions. It will also make use of a rather capacious 80 kWh battery.
The Taycan Carrera 4S will arrive packing two engines joining their efforts for 435 or 490 hp (324 or 365 kW). A larger 96 kWh battery will provide the electricity.
The top-of-the-line Porsche Taycan Turbo gets a rear-axle motor with 408 hp (304 kW) and a front-axle motor with 218 hp (163 kW). The resulting total output amounts to 626 hp (467 kW), and the torque can temporarily ascend to 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft). The battery will be rated at 96 kWh and 800V, which is twice the voltage of Tesla cars. The Turbo will accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds and max out at 261 km/h (162 mph). The manufacturer-rated maximum driving range amounts to 515 kilometers (320 miles).
The higher trim versions will benefit from four-wheel steering, air suspension and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Two more trims will join the range in the future: the ultimate Taycan Turbo S packing 734 hp (547 kW) and the trimmed-down Taycan GTS with the rear-wheel drive.
