Sportec delivers its first “Sub1000” Porsche restomod

Famous Porsche restorer and tuner Sportec has delivered the first example of its most ambitious vehicle to date, the Sub1000. Once fueled and ready to go, it weighs around 990 kilograms (2,182 pounds) – half a metric ton less than the original.

That’s why it’s called Sub1000 – it literally manages to stay below 1,000 kilos in fully drivable and road-legal state. The company still calls it “the racecar for the road” to highlight where the emphasis was made during the development. Everything not strictly needed in the cabin is gone, aluminum is used throughout instead of steel, and the bodywork is composite.

The first example delivered earlier this week was finished in a saturated shade of orange seen here, but the company says no two cars will be the same.

As impressive as the weight reduction is all on its own, it’s far from being the only selling point. The engine commands 3.6 liters of displacement and pushes 345 PS (340 hp / 254 kW) to the wheels along with 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. The redline is at 7,600 RPM. With a front/rear weight distribution of 38/62, Sportec says the car comes close to the 911 (992) GT3 RS.

All prices are private. Check out the video for the original announcement dating 18 months back.
