Meet Renault Boreal, a new SUV for the global market

The Renault Boreal is a mid-size crossover utility vehicle slated for production in Brazil and Turkey and for export into 70+ countries.

The vehicle is 4.56 meters (178.1 inches) long, 1.84 meters (71.9 inches) wide and 1.65 meters (64.5 inches) tall with 2.7 meters (105.5 inches) of wheelbase. It features intricate stacked headlights and rather conservative taillights. The wheels are 19 inches large by default, and the ground clearance amounts to a respectable 213 mm (8.3 inches).

A peek inside reveals two 10-inch displays. The infotainment system supports Google services, comes with more than 100 preinstalled apps and receives over-the-air updates. Harman Kardon provides the audio system.

The trim includes imitation leather, soft-touch plastic and laser-engraved panels. You can choose either greyish light blue or grey upholstery and opt for 48-color ambient lighting. The driver’s seat has the massage function built in by default. The trunk size is 522 liters (18.43 cubic feet).

The only engine announced thus far is a 1.3-liter turbo mill that can run on gas or ethanol depending on the market. It produces between 138 and 163 PS (136–161 hp; 101–120 kW, respectively) and maxes out at 240–270 Nm (177–199 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is six-speed preselector DCT.
