Smart Fortwo tries hard to pass for Lamborghini Gallardo lookalike

A bizarre creation is up for grabs in the UK right now: dubbed the Smartborghini, it is a Smart Fortwo stylized after the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. The whole thing costs just $15,000 and is not street-legal.

The conversion began with stripping the Smart of its roof and entire bodywork. The team that worked on the project molded an all-new body for the tiny car, but the result still looks more like a caricature than a replica.

Included in the body kit are imitated air intakes, exhaust tips, a faux diffuser and 19-inch Lamborghini Callisto-style wheels finished in black. The reason the ride is not legal on public roads is that the headlights and taillights are… simple decals.

Overall, the impression is that of a kid’s toy car. The performance checks out, too: unlike its Italian source of inspiration, the Smartborghini drives the wheels with a feeble 1.0-liter three-pot turbo that hits its limits at 71 PS (70 hp / 52 kW) and 92 Nm (68 lb-ft) of torque.
