The Japanese automotive giant has successfully wrapped up designing the third generation of hydrogen fuel cells, meaning they can now be used in all manner of cars.
The new cells are said to be cheaper, more reliable and 20% more efficient than the ones currently on the market. The first cars powered by this technology will emerge in 2026 under Toyota and BMW brands.
It’s still worth noting that the company only managed to sell 1,778 hydrogen vehicles worldwide in 2024.
