Toyota Yaris goes naturally aspirated in Middle East countries

Toyota has just unveiled the next-gen Yaris sedan in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, combining rich trim options with a selection of low-end, non-turbo engines.

The car is 4,425 millimeters long, 1,740 mm wide and 1,480 mm tall with 2,620 mm of wheelbase. As such, it is marginally wider than the outgoing generation with 70 mm of added wheelbase. The rest of the dimensions stay unchanged, but the sedan can already be considered among the most spacious models in its market segment. Its trunk offers 475 liters (16.77 cubic feet) of space.

In the two base trim levels, the Middle Eastern Yaris comes equipped with a normally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 1.3 liters of displacement, 97 PS (96 hp / 71 kW) and 122 Nm (90 lb-ft) of torque, which hooks onto a CVT. The top spec benefits from a 1.5-liter mill capable of 105 PS (104 hp / 77 kW) and 138 Nm (102 lb-ft) of torque. The fuel consumption does not exceed 4.9 liters per 100 kilometers (corresponds to 48 MPG).

Depending on your chosen trim, the Yaris may end up with 16-inch wheels, an 8-inch touch-sensitive infotainment display, a 7-inch digital dash cluster (the base trim comes with analog dash), six speakers, and an HVAC. The airbag count varies from two to six. The maxed-out car makes use of the Toyota Safety Sense package that includes adaptive cruise control, lane control and automatic high beams.

Prices in Saudi Arabia lie within the range of 58,000–72,000 riyal.
