Toyota updates JPN Taxi after eight years

The Toyota JPN Taxi cab has been officially refreshed in Japan for the current model year.

The 4.4-meter, five-door cab has mostly retained its appearance (watch the video for the pre-facelift version) but received a number of tech updates. Among other things, it ended up with a new 7-inch display accompanied a number of LED indicators, a detachable payment terminal instead of a fixed one, and an extended ADAS package. Last but not least, deflectors in the passenger-area climate vents are finally adjustable.

In its most basic spec, the cab is a propane-electric hybrid combining a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a single e-motor. The former produces 74 PS (73 hp / 54 kW) and the latter adds 61 PS (60 hp / 45 kW). Things stay stock here, but the propane tank size has been increased from 52 to 58 liters for some more autonomy.

Prices on the domestic market start from ¥3.46 million.
