Volvo unveils “hot” T8 Twin-Engine variants of the XC60 and V60

Volvo has released performance versions of its V60 estate/wagon and XC60 SUV. Both bear Polestar badges and pack hybrid powertrains rated at 420 horsepower (313 kW).

The so-called T8 Twin-Engine System comprises a 2.0-liter gasoline engine equipped with a turbocharger and a belt-driven blower, a 80 hp / 60 kW electric motor, a purpose-built ECU and a performance exhaust system. This is pretty much what the range-topping S60 sedan/saloon ships with.

The powertrain is manufacturer-rated at 420 hp (313 kW) and 670 Nm (494 lbft) of torque, enabling both the XC60 and the V60 to conclude the standard sprint in less than five seconds.

On the outside, the performance trim sports different wheels, radiator grille, black chrome tailpipes, and Polestar logos.

Both models will emerge in limited series, but the exact production volume is not being discussed right now. The company assures it will be greater than that of the Volvo S60 Polestar, only 20 of which rolled off the assembly line.
