Mercedes sheds some light on upcoming AMG GT features

The all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT is right around the corner with most pre-production tests complete and the premiere rumored to be several weeks away. In the meantime, the automaker has released some interesting info regarding the tri-motor supercar’s inner workings.

One of the most intriguing features comes in the form of an intelligent drive mode selector called Race Engineer. It allows drivers to fine-tune throttle response and steering response, as well as decide how much the car intervenes when losing traction. According to the engineering team, this freedom of customization will come as a welcome break for drivers who are tired of having only basic toggles, like ESP ON / ESP OFF.

The new AMG GT is a fully electric car with a single motor at the front axle and two motors at the rear axle. The brakes feature stainless-steel rotors at the rear and carbon-ceramic ones at the front. You can switch between RWD and AWD whenever you need.

Another major upgrade resides in the suspension department, where hydraulic and air-ride components come together to eliminate the need for dedicated anti-sway bars. Last but not least, the traction battery benefits from oil cooling that should make it viable even for prolonged track runs.

There is still no specific launch date or pricing for the new AMG GT Electric.
