The Czech automaker has finally unveiled its smallest and cheapest all-electric crossover: the Epiq. It will occupy the place at the bottom of the Skoda lineup and will start from €25,900 in Germany, although not before the €35,600 First Edition batch runs out.
The EV is 4,171 mm (164.2 inches) long, 1,798 mm (70.8 inches) wide and 1,581 mm (62.2 inches) tall with a wheelbase of 2,601 mm (102.4 inches). It commands a sizeable trunk with 475 liters (16.77 cubic feet) of space available at all times, and can go all the way to 1,344 liters (47.46 cubic feet) with the rear seats folded.
On the outside, the Epiq looks like any other recent Skoda following the Modern Solid design language. It’s also a fairly aerodynamic ride with a low drag ratio of 0.275.
The interior is trimmed with synthetic fabrics derived from reprocessed plastic waste. There’s a 5.3-inch digital dash, a 13-inch infotainment system touchscreen and a number of physical buttons on the center console for accessing most in-car functions. Options include audio systems with up to 10 speakers, parking assists, assorted heating options, and a dual-zone HVAC.
In its most bare-bones form, the Skoda Epiq gets 116 PS (114 hp / 85 kW), 267 Nm (197 lb-ft) of torque and up to 310 kilometers (192 miles) of range per charge. Paying the premium for the middle spec gets you 135 PS (133 hp / 99 kW) along with the same torque and range. Both variants hit their speed ceiling at 150 km/h (93 mph).
The range-topping Epiq gets 211 PS (208 hp / 155 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque. It can also hit 160 km/h (100 mph) and cover up to 440 km (273 miles) per charge.
