Aurus Komendant photos leak ahead of premiere

Car spotters have tracked down the Russian-made luxury SUV during its road tests. The camo wrap is everywhere, but you can at least get an idea of the car’s dimensions.

As it turns out, the Komendant (‘Commandant’) is even larger than the Senat (‘Senate’) saloon, which itself amounts to a whopping 5,630 mm (18.47 feet) long. This makes it longer than most European luxury SUVs, including the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Range Rover Long, BMW X7, Bentley Bentayga, and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

As far as the looks are concerned, the newcomer will likely follow in the footsteps of the Aurus Senat and Arsenal (all three probably share the same platform and tech). While not official, we are pretty sure it will ship with a nine-speed automatic transmission connected to a V8-based hybrid powertrain. The main engine will likely send 598 hp (446 kW) along with 880 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels, assisted by a single electric motor contributing another 62 hp (46 kW).

The reveal event remains scheduled for August 2020.
