There’s a bit of an identity crisis going in the Corvette camp: priced and powered on par with many regular sports cars, it nonetheless packs the kind of performance and features you’d expect from a full-fledged supercar. So, where does it belong? Tuners have the answer.
It comes from Late Model Racecraft (LMR) based in Texas. Working with a C7 Corvette Z06, the company found a way to boost its LT4 V8 by 150 horsepower, for a total of 811 PS (800 hp / 596 kW). It took a cold air intake system, forged pistons and other engine internals to get there, as well as a performance exhaust system from AWE. The owner calls the soundtrack “monstrous”, and that’s what it is if the video is any indication.
Apparently, the Michelin Pilot Sports tires on the rear wheels were no longer adequate for delivering that kind of power to the asphalt, so they were swapped out for some Toyo rubber. The exterior and the cabin remained largely stock.
