A perfectly restored Datsun 240Z like this will cost you £0.2M

The Datsun 240Z (also known as Nissan 240Z) was huge in the United States a few decades ago, but it never caught on in the United Kingdom with fewer than 2,000 units sold on that market. One has now been restored to as-new condition.

MZR Roadsports, the tuning company behind the project, was founded specifically for this project, although it is now taking other orders as well. The founder explained that he had grown desperate trying to find a restorer in the UK who would do the 240Z justice and ultimately decided to do everything himself.

The stock engine was overhauled and boosted to 279 PS (275 hp / 205 kW) and 336 Nm (248 lb-ft) of torque. A modern six-speed manual gearbox was installed, and the suspension was made height-adjustable.

For the exterior finish, the talented restorer made sure he spent at least one full day per body panel, resulting in an especially clean and refined look. He placed two carbon-fiber bucket seats inside the cabin, added a couple of gauges to the dash and brought a couple of other aspects in line with the modern demands. The resulting car weighs in at mere 1,079 kilos (2,379 pounds) and can be made even lighter with all-carbon bodywork.

A restomod like the Datsun 240Z Evolution pictured here will set you back £200,000 before options, MZR Roadsports says.
